People left in hysterics at man’s ‘bizarre’ house listing looking for person with ‘right energy’

A man from Dublin is looking for a fourth housemate and people can’t get enough of his strange advertisement, which says he’s looking for someone to join his “little community”

Finding a place to rent can be a headache, and moving into shared accommodation with strangers is even more stressful.

But one man from Dublin, Ireland, is doing his best to find the perfect housemate to move into his four-bedroom house and has a long list of qualities he wants the ideal candidate to have.

The unnamed man posted an advertisement to Irish housing website Daft, and his unique post was later shared to Twitter as people were left bemused by his request for someone with “good energy” who works from home and wants to join his “little community”.

His advertisement reads: “Unique opportunity to share 4 bedroom house with 3 others beside beach in Sandymount, Dublin 4 at low rent.

“Current occupants are 1. Owner (male 40s) who is retired and a passionate gardener, 2. Brazilian (female) IT professional (20s) working from home, and 3. American (female) IT master’s student (20s) studying from home.

“I expect this would particularly suit a writer, artist, a mindfulness practitioner or someone who studies at home.

“We seek someone who is interested in nature, gardening and participating in our little community – we do NOT seek someone involved in the modern-day rat race or who has a job outside the home.

“The rent is below the market rate because the primary goal is not commercial but rather to find the right person who will bring good energy to the home.

“Replies should include a brief description of yourself and a mobile number.”

The repost of his advertisement on Twitter has received over 2,000 likes, and while many were left perplexed by his unusual list of requests, others defended the man for wanting to “create a nice environment” for himself.

One person wrote: “So just because it doesn’t suit you, you decide he’s a weirdo? Ever think he could just be a nice guy trying to help others while creating a nice environment for himself?”
